SUMMARY:HBMBA 2025 Annual General Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Register to attend the 2025 AGM!\nPlease register for the Hamilton Burlington Mountain Bike Association (HBMBA) Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Wednesday\, March 26.  The 2025 AGM will be held in person at Fairweather Brewing Company. \nThe AGM is an opportunity to: \n\nLearn about what our board gets up to behind the scenes and how you can get involved\nVote for your 2025 board of directors\nKick off the mountain bike season over a beverage!\n\nSpecial Resolution \nWe are proposing an update to our By-laws\, to ensure our board is well equipped and organized appropriately\, to respond to the evolving needs of our membership\, partners and landowners. In summary\, we are proposing: \n\nRemoving geographic area designations from each of the five (5) existing Director of Trails positions\, yielding five (5) Director of Trails;\nAdjusting language to clarify roles and responsibilities of our board of directors;\nAdjusting language to be more inclusive.\n\nCurrent By-laws can be read here.\nProposed By-laws can be read here. \nAs per our current By-laws\, this special resolution notice has been released 10 days prior to our Annual General Meeting\, where we will hold a vote on the matter. \nWe Rely On Volunteers \nThe HBMBA is a not-for-profit organization that relies exclusively on a volunteer\, elected board of directors. Over the years\, the inception\, growth and success of the organization has been a direct result of a motivated\, collaborative\, and passionate group of volunteers\, keen to support the local mountain (and extended) biking community though trail advocacy. \nBut we need your help — if you or someone you know is interested in volunteering with us to support our new and continuing initiatives\, read on. \nAvailable Positions \nHeading into the 2025-2026 year\, the following positions are up for renewal. Eager to help out\, there are several current board members who have expressed interest in running for reelection. This does not exclude you from running — members in good standing are welcome to run against them\, though we encourage those interested to consider vacant positions which have yet to be filled. Nominate yourself for a board position using our 2025 Nomination Form. \n \n*Only available to existing board members\, as per By-laws.\n**Pending passing of special resolution at board meeting\, see above for more information. \nNominations \nEach year\, active members in good standing can nominate themselves (or other members) to run for an open board position — with a membership wide vote occurring at our Annual General Meeting. To ensure the organization maintains momentum\, and reflects the evolving interests of our membership\, we need keen individuals to fill available positions!\nIf you are keen to get involved\, we encourage you to nominate yourself for a board position using our 2025 Nomination Form. \nWe often get asked about roles\, responsibilities\, and whether qualifications are necessary to get involved. \nWe welcome collaborative individuals\, with can-do attitudes and a passion for supporting the local riding community. Those interested in a position must meet the criteria outlined in our by-laws (i.e.\, pertaining to age\, residency\, etc.). You certainly do not need to have prior experience in a board setting\, be a pro rider\, or know all of our local trails. If you are interested in learning more about what a specific Board position entails\, please refer to our proposed by-laws here. \nInterested in learning more or how to get involved? Reach out to our board at hello@hbmba.ca.
