In this hands-on Dig Day\, participants will be introduced to tools of the trade\, learn about safety\, and have an opportunity to work on trail maintenance. \nWho Can Join Us\nNo experience is required and all HBMBA members are welcome. Non-members may attend one trail build day\, but must become a member in order to attend additional build days due to the HBMBA’s insurance and liability policy. \nParticipants must be 18+. If you have younger family members keen to join us\, please reach out to hello@hbmba.ca and we will do our best to accommodate. \nPlease sign up at this link to confirm your spot. \nDig Day volunteers will have free access to Christie Lake if they don’t have an annual Hamilton Conservation Pass. Members will simply have to show their HBMBA membership confirmation and their Dig Day reservation at the main gate to gain access to the park free of charge. \nMeeting Place\nMountain bike parking lot at Christie Lake Conservation Authority (the west-most parking lot\, follow signage). \nWhat to Bring \n\nSturdy shoes (steel toe is ideal\, but not necessary)\nWork/gardening gloves.\nSunglasses or safety glasses are also recommended\nSnacks\, water\, insect repellant and an extra layer(s). Be prepared to carry your gear out on trail with you.\n\n*** All tools will be provided by HBMBA. \nInclement Weather \nIf the weather is not suitable for building\, you will receive an email (no less than 2hrs prior to the event start).

Participants will be introduced to tools of the trade\, learn about safety\, and have an opportunity to help with some trail maintenance. \nPlease sign up to secure your spot. \nWho Can Join Us \nNo experience is required and all HBMBA members are welcome. Non-members may attend one trail build day but must become a member in order to attend additional build days due to the HBMBA’s insurance and liability policy. \nParticipants must be 18+. If you have younger family members keen to join us\, please reach out to hello@hbmba.ca and we will do our best to accommodate. \nMeeting Place \nMountain bike parking lot at Christie Lake Conservation Authority (the west-most parking lot\, follow signage). \nAccessing Christie Lake Conservation Authority \nOn weekend Dig Days\, you are able to park for free by showing proof of HBMBA membership and your Dig Day registration at the gate. On Friday nights\, there may not be anyone at the gate. BUT\, we have some spare passes that will get you through the gate so you don’t have to pay for parking. Our Trail Director Mark will wait just outside the entry gate until 5 pm to swipe people in. We want to start working on the trails as close to 5 as possible. Any questions? DESCRIPTION:The HBMBA team is excited to host our first Women\, Trans and Non-Binary (WTNB) Dig Day at Christie Lake. In this women-led\, hands-on build day\, participants will be introduced to tools of the trade\, learn about safety\, and have an opportunity to make their mark on one of our existing trails. \nJoin the Hamilton Burlington Mountain Biking Association for a fun morning of trail building and maintenance. No experience is required and all HBMBA members are welcome. Non-members may attend one trail build day but must become a member in order to attend additional build days due to the HBMBA’s insurance and liability policy. If the weather is not suitable for building\, you will receive an email prior to meeting. \nThe build day leader will plan the activities for the day and will provide instruction for the use and safety of the tools. \nWho: \n\nOpen to women\, trans and non-binary participants.\nNo prior trail building experience is necessary.\nYou do not need to have have an HBMBA membership to attend.\nWe encourage participants to come out to learn and support building and maintenance efforts\, where possible 9light work and support roles will be available).\nParticipants must be 18+ or accompanied by a guardian.\n\nWhen: October 28th from 9:30am to 12pm \n\n9:15am Coffee and light snacks will be available at the MTB Parking Lot (see park map)\n9:30am Introduction\, Safety & Tool Talk at the MTB Parking Lot\n9:45am Confirm Dig Plan & Walk to Trail Site\n11:30am Wrap Up & Walk out\nPlease arrive ready to roll no later than 9:30am.
