SUMMARY:HBMBA 2024 Annual General Meeting (AGM)
DESCRIPTION:Register to attend the 2024 AGM!\nPlease register for the Hamilton Burlington Mountain Bike Association (HBMBA) Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Sunday February 25th\, 2024 from 7:00pm to 9:00pm.  The 2024 AGM will be held in person Grain and Grit and hosted virtually. Due to space restrictions\, the in person attendance will be capped at 35 people total but online virtual attendance will be unlimited. Please be mindful when selecting your registration style as In Person or Virtual. We have selected the venue for in person based on historical in person attendance numbers. \nThe AGM will last approximately 2 hours and is an important meeting for all members.  Firstly\, it’s required by our bylaws and incorporation as critical voting on the previous fiscal year’s statements and Board of Directors will occur. Secondly\, it’s where members are provided with an update on the past years activities and plans for the following year. Lastly\, it’s an avenue for you to provide feedback on what you would like to see from the organization. \n—> Click here to register for the 2024 AGM <—\nEligibility for Board Of Directors\n\nCandidates must be at least eighteen (18) years of age\,\nCandidates must be an individual\,\nCandidates must be sound of mind\,\nCandidates must not be bankrupt\, and\nCandidates must be Members of HBMBA in good standing. A member in good standing is defined by the following three (3) requirements:\n\nHas paid all dues\, fees\, or other monies owing to HBMBA.\nIs not under a ban or suspension by any official cycling organization including\, without limitation\, the Ontario Cycling Association or  International Mountain Bicycling Association (IMBA).\nIs aware and follows all HBMBA rules\, regulations\, guidelines and customs including\, without limitation\, the requirement that ALL MEMBERS MUST WEAR AN APPROPRIATE HELMET AT ALL HBMBA CYCLING EVENTS.\n\n\n\nNomination Process\nEligible Candidates can nominate themselves or another member using the following FORM. Eligibility will be confirmed by the Director of Membership prior to voting at the AGM. Candidates will be required to announce at the AGM whether they are running for a one (1) year or two (2) year term. Candidates may circulate\, with the agenda for the AGM\, a one (1) letter sized page document as an electoral presentation. This must be submitted to pete.s@hbmba.ca no later than 11:59pm February 23th\, 2024. Note that failure to submit a candidate bio does NOT preclude a candidate from running. Candidates can be nominated up to and including at the AGM. All Candidates will be permitted up to 60 seconds (one minute) during the AGM to give a brief description of themselves to attendees. \nBoard Positions\nThe following Board Positions are eligible for election at the AGM and HBMBA welcomes submissions from any interested members: \n\nDirector of Landowner Relations\nDirector of Ecology and Stewardship\nDirector of Events\nDirector of Corporate Membership\nDirector of Trails: East Hamilton\nDirector of Trails: Burlington Area\nDirector of Memberships\nDirector of Youth Advocacy\nDirector of Trails: Christie Lake\nDirector of Women’s Advocacy\n\nThe following Executive Positions are eligible for election at the AGM and the HBMBA welcome submissions from any PREVIOUS HBMBA Director: \n\nPresident\nVice-President\nSecretary\nCommunications Manager\nTreasure\n\nElection Process\nMembers will vote on Candidates with simple majority votes. Each member in good standing will be eligible to cast one vote for each position. Members may vote at the AGM (in person or virtually) or via absenteeism vote by 11:59pm February 24th\, 2024. To make an absenteeism vote please email pete.s@hbmba.ca. \nAny positions which are contested (more than a single Candidate has been nominated) will be elected by First-past-the-post (person with the highest number of votes) polling to determine the successful Candidate. \nAny positions which are uncontested (a single Candidate has been nominated) will be elected by a vote of confidence (known as a consent vote) where all Candidates are elected in a single motion. Prior to the consent vote\, any members in good standing may make a motion to have a candidate pulled from the consent vote and voted upon individually (known as vote of confidence). DESCRIPTION:Join us for the Hamilton Burlington Mountain Biking Association’s Annual General Meeting at the Waterdown Legion. \nHelp us celebrate our fourth Birthday! \nWe’ll be having a 50/50 draw\, a raffle for some great prizes\, and more! \nDoors open at 7pm and our meeting will start at 7:30pm \nWe also want to note that current and new members can renew or purchase a membership online. \nWe hope to see all of our members at the event\, and are looking forward to the season ahead! \nCurrent members will receive a notification for a special resolution.
